DrayOS5 Routers support generating certificates for OpenVPN since firmware version 5.3.0. The following guide demonstrates how to create OpenVPN from different clients to Vigor2136 with the self-generated certificates.
Confirm the time is correct on the router via System Maintenance / Device Settings / Time page.
Go to VPN / General Setup: Enable OpenVPN, set the required UDP and TCP Ports (default is 1194) and click Generate Certificate, then apply changes.
Navigate to VPN / Teleworker VPN and click add profile.
Configure the username and password.
Select "Teleworker VPN" tab.
Set Idle Timeout to 0, select OpenVPN Protocol and assign LAN for IP addressing.
Under VPN / Teleworker VPN, click Generate OpenVPN Config (which will be used on client side).
Client Configuration
1/ Download the OpenVPN certificate/config to the client PC.
2/ Install the latest version of the Smart VPN Client on the client PC.
3/ If OpenVPN is not already installed, download it from:
https://openvpn.net/community/
4/ Once OpenVPN is installed, you may need to reboot the PC.
5/ Relaunch the Smart VPN Client.
Smart VPN Client Setup
1/ Click Add Profile and enter a profile name.
2/ Set the Type to OpenVPN.
3/ Enter the username and password created earlier.
4/ Import the OpenVPN certificate / config.
5/ Click Connect.
